Lucy & I became aware of Westmoreland Walks when one of our past brides contacted us about supplying music, a PA system, and balloons for their annual event. After learning about their efforts in education, awareness, care and research in finding a cure, we gladly volunteered our services. We are proud to say we have been a part of this event for the past 7 years.

After registration, everyone gathers together for a Celebration of Life Ceremony. Every year they have the most remarkable women share their experiences with breast cancer. Believe me, it is amazing the courage and strength these women possess. 

The 9th annual walk will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 2:00 with registration beginning at 12:30 pm. Walkers may choose to participate in teams or individually. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. Proceeds will also benefit the Westmoreland Walks, Inc. Pink Ribbon Scholarship and Spa Serenity Day, which is a day provided for a group of Westmoreland county survivors to enjoy a full day of spa services, education, lunch and much more at no cost.

Breast cancer awareness is a cause very near and dear to my heart. My mother had been a breast cancer survivor for 15 years before she was taken away from us by Alzheimer's Disease .She was such a sign of strength and inspiration that a woman can beat this horrible disease. Everyday 25 women in Pennsylvania are diagnosed with breast cancer. This is a statistic that boggled my mind.

We will be there again this year.
